Strauss Technique! - Cologne Premiere

As part of the URBÄNG Festival 2026

Strauss Technique is not an evening for silent watching: Ivo Dimchev - theatre maker, choreographer, visual artist, singer-songwriter and queer activist from Bulgaria - invites you to a collective waltz out of control. The music of Johann Strauss II becomes the starting material for an evening full of participation, blending concert, dance class and collective escalation.

Ten specially composed "Healing Songs", playful choreographies and props like ribbons, fans and pompoms invite you to sing, dance and join in. Thematically, the evening moves between self-love, sexual self-determination, financial worries and emotional overwhelm - woven together with queer humour, operetta kitsch and the pleasure of shared uninhibition.
