Emerson Araújo began his career as a drummer at the samba school "Vai Vai", a multiple winner of the São Paulo Carnival. From these roots, he developed his EMERSOUND: a fusion of samba, rap, maracatú, afro beat, pop, funk and reggae, which he himself compares to the work of Jorge Benjor.

After working in Brazil and Chile, Emerson moved to Berlin, where he experimented with German-language lyrics and became part of Peter Fox's drum school "BÄM". His album Musica Propria (2016) was released primarily in Portuguese but also includes bonus tracks in German. Contributors include Ajani McDowell, Hector Coco Barez (Calle 13), Victor Vagh and Daveman. The albums Mi Raza and Live en Santiago de Chile were released in Europe for the first time in November 2015.
