BETRIEBS|WERK|SCHAU IV - Workshop Concert with Oxana Omelchuk — Betriebswerk, Heidelberg
Description was written before the event

Mature concert programmes emerge from complex considerations that should recede behind the musical experience at the moment of performance - and the programme notes attempt to anticipate the audience's obvious questions. What rarely happens: your questions in the moment of listening, your reaction to the music, your wishes.

That is precisely what BETRIEBS|WERK|SCHAU creates space for. This concert series in the rehearsal room invites a composer for each edition to present their own chamber music work - performed and sung by members of the ensembles, moderated by J.Marc Reichow or Ekkehard Windrich. You can go as deep as you want: repeat a passage, ask for an explanation of a playing technique, voice criticism. The rehearsal room is where the lion's share of the work happens - not the stage. Admission is free.

Each concert is preceded by a Gregorian chant as an opening ritual.

This time the guest is Oxana Omelchuk (born 1975 in Belarus), composer and musician based in Cologne. She studied composition and electronic composition at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln; she has received composition commissions from the German Music Council, WDR, SWR, ORF and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. As a musician, she regularly works with analogue synthesizers and combines improvisation with her compositional practice. She has been awarded, among others, the Austrian Stella*25 Prize (2025) and the Heidelberg Women Artists Prize (2026); since October 2025 she has been a guest professor of composition at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
