For over two decades, National Geographic photographers Aneta and Dirk Bleyer have travelled through Masuria and its people. Their film and photo reportage is a love letter to the old cities, the idyllic landscape, and the inhabitants of this region.

Throughout history, this region in the heart of Central Europe has been home to many people: Germans, Poles, Ukrainians, and others. The political map has changed - what remains are quiet lakes, golden fields, stork nests, and the castles of the Teutonic Knights.

The old Hanseatic city of Gdańsk and the once magnificent Königsberg - today Kaliningrad - form the highlights of the lecture, characterised by intense encounters with people whose turbulent fates have made them witnesses to history.
