It's Time to Get Old! - Bread Trap Group (Shanghai) - from age 12

"It's Time to Get Old!" is a transmedia theatre project by Bread Trap Group (Shanghai) that combines documentary theatre, live video game control, audience interaction, and improvised sports commentary. The starting point is football - a sport typically associated with youth, strength, and speed. At its core lies ageing as a real, often overlooked experience.

Dozens of football-loving seniors become virtual characters in a video game and compete against a "Galactic All-Star Team". Their movements are translated into playful choreography; stadium sounds, game audio, and live commentary merge into a shared sonic space. Through real-time control, audience participation, and improvised commentary, each performance is created anew - as a narrative that makes the life experiences of older people visible.

The artistic innovation lies in the real-time transmission of biometric data into digital avatars and in the tension between vulnerability and vitality, reality and virtuality. The project is aimed at a multi-generational audience from age 12 onwards, as well as at football and gaming communities.
