Reading: Handkäs Royal

On 23 September 2026, Bockenheim crime writer Gerd Fischer will read from his latest novel "Handkäs Royal" at Hugendubel bookshop Frankfurt Steinweg, as part of Frankfurt Design Week. Entry is free; advance registration is recommended.

The book pits two Frankfurt influencers against each other: Mainrausch and Lady F compete for clicks, likes and followers - until Mainrausch turns up dead outside the Krawallschachtel. The homicide squad is baffled, since Mainrausch had been blogging about quintessentially Frankfurt topics, from Handkäs to Ebbelwoi pubs. The first lead points to Andreas Rauscher, a suspended detective.

Gerd Fischer studied German literature, art history and political science in Frankfurt before working mainly as a copywriter. Since 2004 he has written crime novels, and also works as an editor and ghostwriter for commissioned projects. His earlier titles include "Lauf in den Tod" (2010), "Der Mann mit den zarten Händen" (2010), "Robin Tod" (2011) and "Mord auf Bali" (new edition 2011).
