Eva's Home Again - A Carole King Inspired Concert

Music as refuge, as home within oneself, as a means of expressing countless emotional worlds - for singer and stage artist Eva Maria Balkenhol, Carole King's songwriting embodies all of this. Both artists share a love of the forest and its quiet green expanses. King once described this feeling as being "wrapped in a warm blanket of nature" and used her ranch in Idaho as a retreat from stage life. This longing for connection - with nature, with relationships, with a place in the world - is the starting point of Eva's programme. The connecting element is clearly love.

Eva is already known from blues projects such as "Eva's Love Train" and the chanson gypsy swing jazz band "Pas de Fromage". For this concert, she brings her band: Udo Krüger on piano, who draws inspiration from King's characteristically powerful playing and transforms songs into stories with sonic depth; Job Verweijen on percussion, a world-music-experienced musician with extraordinary instruments; and Michael Frei on saxophone with melancholic warmth or jazzy playing. Philosophical thoughts and poetic texts interweave with the band's instrumental play - delicate ballads meet energetic grooves.

Alongside Carole King songs such as "Home Again" and "I Feel the Earth Move", thematically fitting songs by other artists will also be performed.
