Weltalltage. Literature and Participation
Reading and conversation with David Hugendick
Stuttering is a form of rushing stillness - an unforeseen disruption in the flow of operations, while our society is driven relentlessly by artificial digital urgency. Yet social participation is a measure of democracy: a society in which as many people as possible can engage meets extremist currents with greater resilience.
This is what David Hugendick's autobiographical essay "Jetzt sag doch endlich was" explores - while also expanding our ear for speaking and listening. Hugendick, born in 1980 in Bremerhaven, is an editor at ZEIT and lives in Berlin.
