The online event series "Philosophy Meets Art" focuses on Monday, 28 September 2026, from 18:00 to 19:00 on the half-yearly theme "Genießen in Maßen" (Pleasure in Moderation). Two masterworks from the Städel Museum take centre stage: Carl Spitzweg's "Der Einsiedler vor seiner Klause" (1844) and Cornelis de Heem's "Prunkstilleben mit kopulierenden Spatzen" (1657).

The lecture and discussion explore the tension between excess and immoderate indulgence on one hand, and restraint and sustained enjoyment on the other. Speakers are Prof. Dr. Günter Kruck (KARM) and Dr. Stefan Scholz (KARM).
