"Mensch, Puppe!" combines Irmgard Keun's metropolitan novel "Das kunstseidene Mädchen" with biographical texts by the author and Berlin songs - a production blending puppet theatre, drama, and chanson.

Irmgard Keun was one of the central literary voices of the Weimar Republic. Her bestseller "Das kunstseidene Mädchen" is considered a standard work of New Objectivity and remains widely read in schools today. In it, Keun explores the role of women in the Weimar Republic, offers a critical perspective on emerging consumer and media culture, and examines the widening gap between poverty and wealth.

Puppeteer Jeannette Luft and actress Anna Stieblich bring together the novel with Keun's autobiographical texts and contemporary Berlin songs. Duration: 60 minutes.
