Bread and Butter /UA - Kininso Koncepts / 7+
Hessisches Landestheater Marburg, Germany
Bread has played an important role in various cultures for generations. In Europe, it is deeply rooted in the tradition of hospitality, and in Nigeria it holds a special place in family life - from fruit bread through banana and coconut bread to the popular Agege bread. Kininso Koncepts explores the question: Who prefers which bread? Is it true that in Germany darker, whole-grain bread is more common on the table, while in Nigeria people prefer soft, white bread?
This is the starting point of an artistic journey, because the saying "bread and butter" has a special meaning in Nigeria: it symbolizes unity, harmony, and mutual solidarity.
Joshua Alabi and his theatre group Kininso Koncepts - known from two KUSS festivals where they presented SANDSCAPE and KOLOFU for audiences from age 2 - come as "Artists in Residence" to Hessisches Landestheater Marburg. There they work together with ensemble members on this production for everyone from age 7.
