Lisa Wilhelm Quartett

Lisa Wilhelm is a drummer and composer from Stuttgart, awarded the Soloists' Prize of the Young German Jazz Prize in 2023. She leads her quartet with sensitivity from the background: unobtrusive, with a clear signature and chamber-music refinement.

The quartet was founded in 2020 when all four members were studying simultaneously at HMDK Stuttgart. Their debut album "Potpourri - quoted not stolen" was named by WDR as one of the best jazz albums of 2023 and was NDR Jazz Album of the Week in February 2023. In May 2025, the second album "So Close" was released, for which the quartet expanded to include a string quartet and three vocalists - the lyrical, melodic jazz of the debut meets dreamy pop music.

Lisa Wilhelm studied at HMDK Stuttgart (jazz drums, bachelor 2023), Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon. In 2021 she was part of the "Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy" in Hamburg, where she performed with Matt Brewer, Melissa Aldana, Yaron Herman, Theo Croker, Ziv Ravitz, and Julia Hülsmann, among others.

Other members: Moritz Langmaier (piano) is currently pursuing his master's degree at HMDK Stuttgart and has performed with Jochen Rückert, Bob Mintzer, Jim Black, and Jim Snidero, among others. Lukas Wögler (tenor saxophone) has led his own quartet for years, released two studio albums, and was a member of the Bundesjugendjazzorchester from 2023-2024. Franz Blumenthal (bass) completed his jazz bachelor's degree at HfMT Hamburg before moving to HMDK Stuttgart for two master's programmes; he has performed at the Elbjazz Festival, among other venues.
