Acquittal for Franz

A fast-paced theatrical evening full of touching moments and dark humour.

A different take on "The Trial" - very loosely inspired by Franz Kafka: What could be more appealing than observing and judging "the lives of others"? The fatal urge to elevate oneself above one's peers through "condemnation" is clearly deeply rooted in the human species. No one has captured this as sharply as Franz Kafka: In his novel "The Trial", the judiciary and everyday life intertwine so deeply that "the judicial apparatus" permeates everything, and life itself becomes an absurd process.

In the new production by Moabiter Theaterspektakel, the fictional protagonist K encounters real-life con artists and fences, quarrelling neighbours, social climbers and survival artists from real life. Reality and fiction blend together, dramatic confusions unfold - and perhaps the novel's hero finds a loophole in "The Old Bone Tavern" to escape his fate…
