1000 Sounds
Alter Stadtsaal, Rathaushof, Speyer, Germany
Percussion concert
Percussion as a solo instrument combines a broad range of instruments with enormous sonic diversity and opens up unusual compositional possibilities. In contemporary music, experimental sounds and noises emerge not only on classical percussion instruments such as drums, timpani, or cymbals, but also on materials from the hardware store or everyday objects transformed into instruments: street signs, cooking pots, metal buckets, and much more.
The programme ranges from catchy, groovy rhythms to sound worlds beyond conventional listening habits. Each work has its own profile - from a piece for a single drum to setups combining the most varied percussion instruments.
With works by Iannis Xenakis, Péter Eötvös, Sara Glojnarić, Dai Fujikura and others.
