Gardens of Lost Dreams
Robert Schumann / Heinrich Heine
19 September 2026 | Oratorium Marianum, Wrocław
A programme inspired by the poetry of Heinrich Heine and the music of Robert Schumann leads into a world of romantic melancholy, unfulfilled love, and memories of lost happiness. It is a story of dreams that remain alive despite the passage of time, and of emotions that find no solace.
At the heart of the programme lies a world of romantic division — between desire and reality, between memory and the present. Heine's poetry, full of subtle irony and hidden pain, finds its natural continuation in Schumann's music. Here, music does not illustrate words but becomes their second voice, guiding the listener through a landscape of emotions, longing, and lost dreams.
The celebrated cycle "A Poet's Love" in an innovative arrangement for cello, guitar, and narrator is complemented by a contemporary interpretation of Schumann's work — "On Love and Death" by Michaela Catranis — thereby emphasizing the timelessness of this music.
