Early summer is the perfect time for open-air concerts. For the twenty-ninth time, we are delighted to invite you to the next Chamber Music Festival "Evenings in the Arsenal" named after Jan Staniendy. As every year at the turn of June and July, surrounded by greenery and birdsong, chamber music in various styles and from different eras will resound in the beautiful courtyard of the historic Wrocław Arsenal, performed by outstanding soloists accompanied by the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra.
This year the festival will run from 26 June to 5 July and will include six classical concerts and two entertainment programmes. We have a rich and diverse programme in store, featuring music from the Baroque to the most contemporary, and alongside classical concerts, symphonies, serenades and quartets, there will also be space for the newest works.
The festival's inaugural concert, featuring the Wratislavia Orchestra, will take place on Friday, 26 June. The programme will include 4 serenades: Mozart's (the famous "Eine kleine Nachtmusik"), Tchaikovsky's, Suk's and Barber's. The combination of serenades with open-air music-making is the quintessence of the festival, bringing together the original origins of the genre with the space of the Arsenal courtyard.
The soloist of the next orchestral concert (Friday, 3 July) will be David Khrikuli (Georgia), finalist of the XIX International Chopin Piano Competition in 2025 – he will perform the solo part in Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto in F minor op. 21 (version for piano and string orchestra). Additionally, the programme will feature works exclusively by Polish composers (including: Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Mikołaj Piotr Górecki), including the world premiere of a work commissioned by the Festival – "Serenata disinvolta" for string orchestra by Ignacy Zalewski.
During the festival's final concert (Sunday, 5 July), the Wratislavia Orchestra...
