About: Astor Piazzola

Astor Piazzolla was an Argentine composer and bandoneon player who transformed tango into a concert-hall art form. By blending the traditional Río de la Plata tango with jazz and classical music, he created the style known as nuevo tango. His suite The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires has become a staple of the contemporary chamber repertoire.

About the venue: Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche

The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche) is a landmark Protestant church on the Kurfürstendamm in central Berlin. Originally built in the 1890s and heavily damaged in World War II, its ruined neo-Romanesque tower was preserved as a war memorial alongside a modern octagonal church completed in 1963. The site regularly hosts classical concerts, organ recitals, and commemorative services.
