Barely born, Oskar Matzerath perceives the world as a universal disaster – and rejects it. Only the tin drum promised to him by his mother opens an acceptable perspective for survival.

About the venue: Berliner Ensemble - Großes Haus

The Berliner Ensemble – Großes Haus is the main stage of the legendary Berliner Ensemble theatre, founded by Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel in 1949. Located in the historic Theater am Schiffbauerdamm building (built 1891–92), it is one of Germany's most important dramatic stages. The house is closely associated with Brecht's epic theatre and continues to present ambitious spoken-drama productions.
