Kurt Weill was a German composer (1900–1950) who blended classical music with jazz, cabaret, and popular song. He is best known for his collaboration with Bertolt Brecht, which produced the operas Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and The Threepenny Opera. After emigrating to the United States, he also achieved success on Broadway.
