Claire Waldoff - anders als die Andern! - Songs and Life of the Queer Cabaret Icon of the 1920s

Claire Waldoff was different from the rest: a native of western Germany who won audiences' hearts as a "Berlin girl" - witty, unconventional, and openly lesbian. With her distinctive style, she belted out her couplets sometimes brashly irreverent, sometimes tenderly sentimental, and became the embodiment of nonconformism in German cabaret.

Ulrike Kinbach and Markus Neumeyer at the piano guide audiences through songs, texts, and fictional scenes from Waldoff's life - into the cabaret world of the 1920s and 30s and into the lesbian-feminist scene of that era. An evening about nonconformity, authenticity, and the power of humour as a tool of resistance.
