Swan Lake - ballet fairy tale with narrator — Theater am Tanzbrunnen, Cologne

This special family production is guided by a warm narrator who leads children and adults gently through the story, bringing the stage action to life with clear explanations. The result is a classic masterpiece that even the youngest audience members can follow - a real theatrical event for the whole family.

Selected dance scenes are enhanced by LED elements woven into the costumes. Sparkling tutus, shimmering lights and atmospheric electric candles create a fairy-tale setting that makes the Christmas magic tangible.

The combination of classical ballet, narrative commentary and modern lighting design makes this an ideal festive show for all ages - celebratory, moving and full of wonder.

Swan Lake is Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky's first ballet composition, written between 1875 and 1877. Ballet audiences and music lovers worldwide regard it as the greatest and - with good reason - the most popular and most frequently performed classical-romantic fairy-tale ballet in the international repertoire. As the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova once said: "the most beautiful ballet one can imagine".

The global success of Swan Lake rests not only on Tchaikovsky's memorable and stirring score, but also on the now world-famous choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov from the St. Petersburg model production of 1895. The award-winning dance ensemble "Usti" has become well known across Europe and is regarded as a training ground for young, talented artists. The ensemble stays true to the ballet tradition in its classical staging while crafting a distinctly personal version of the work. The high art of dance set within a romantic love story creates a fairy tale for the whole family, drawing the audience between dream and reality.
