Swan Lake is Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky's first ballet composition, written between 1875 and 1877. As the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova once said: "the most beautiful ballet one can imagine".

The global success of Swan Lake rests not only on Tchaikovsky's memorable and stirring score, but also on the now world-famous choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov from the St. Petersburg model production of 1895.
