Das Feuerschiff

An adaptation by Michael Uhl, based on the novel by Siegfried Lenz

A lightship holds a fixed position at sea, guiding other vessels through open waters. If that signal were to fail, the consequences would be dire. On its final watch, a lightship anchored in the Baltic takes aboard the crew of a boat in distress - only to find that the newcomers are not survivors in need of help, but a gang of armed criminals making impossible demands of Captain Freytag and his crew. Freytag wants to resolve the standoff peacefully, without the lightship abandoning its post - but will the other side agree?

In cooperation with the Küstenmuseum Wilhelmshaven, the first part of the evening will be staged as a site-specific performance - putting the tension of the high seas right within reach!
