It has been roughly 20 years since Andrea "Andy" Sachs (Anne Hathaway) and Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) endured life as assistants to fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep) and her notoriously ruthless ways. Since then, both women have carved out careers of their own - Emily with considerable success as a manager at a luxury brand, where eye-watering sums are spent on advertising campaigns. Miranda Priestley could use some of that money herself: in the internet age, her magazine Runway is selling worse by the day.

As fate would have it, the paths of Miranda, Andy and Emily cross again after all this time - and art director Nigel (Stanley Tucci) is naturally back in the mix when the New York fashion world starts spinning again.
