Wenn du wüsstest, was ich weiß ...
The author of my life - A reunion with Uwe Johnson, the "narrator of both Germanys"
The Wall has just fallen. In the Mecklenburg town of Neustrelitz, 19-year-old Charly Hübner leaves his family home after an argument, finds refuge in theatre and literature - and almost inevitably stumbles upon Uwe Johnson's "Anniversaries". He dives in and doesn't surface for a very long time.
40 years after Johnson's death and 90 after his birth, Hübner recorded the monumental work as an audiobook. He was struck by how relevant it remains - both literarily and politically. His reading evening is a tribute to Johnson and, at the same time, a declaration of love for reading itself.
Charly Hübner, born in 1972 in Neustrelitz, is an actor, director, and narrator of radio plays and audiobooks. He has received, among other awards, the Bavarian Television Prize, the Grimme Prize, the German Television Prize, and the German Audiobook Prize. He lives with his family in Hamburg.
