Matthias Brodowy - Sachen gibt´s — TAK – die kabarett-bühne, Hannover

It all started with a hipster who fell into a gutter. Or rather, it all began with burnout and the realization that a day should have 36 hours. Thanks to a bargain-hunting Latin teacher, a folding chair landed in Brodowy's hands, and it showed him one thing: "Nothing is more satirical than reality!"

Cabaret artist Matthias Brodowy presents a slow-motion road-movie in his reading, featuring eccentric characters: a ghost-prone undertaker, a police officer dressed far too tightly, and an extremely mysterious salsa instructor in a small café at the end of the world. The reading is accompanied by numerous guitar sounds and earworms.

Brodowy received the cabaret prize "Das schwarze Schaf" from Hanns Dieter Hüsch in 1999 and has been awarded the "Prix Pantheon", "Gaul von Niedersachsen", and the German Small Arts Prize, among others. "Klappstuhl und ich!" is his eleventh programme.

Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung wrote about the premiere: "In their playful language, the literary miniatures recall Max Goldt, especially when Brodowy loses himself in bizarre observations of details or, in the best Kafkaesque tradition, treats the monstrous as self-evident. It is all clever and poetic, it is more of a reading than cabaret. Brodowy is quite different from usual. Only the applause from his fan base is as great as ever. And rightly so." (Simon Benne, HAZ, 2.5.22)

This programme was supported by funds from Lower Saxony (Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture and "Niedersachsen dreht auf")
