Maxi Pongratz - rum&num

With words and music, Maxi Pongratz tackles big questions on his new tour: How does one become who they want to be? What does folk music have to do with home? And what exactly is home? It's not easy to answer - especially not for a border-crosser like Maxi Pongratz, who travels widely, likes to think outside the box, and looks beyond the horizon.

With curious eyes and open ears, he moves between city and countryside, tavern music and Dadaism, tradition and rebellion, between wit and melancholy, poetry and sound, shyness and mischief. Known for his band "Kofelgschroa", his thoughtful lyrics, and his distinctive accordion style, Maxi Pongratz has become an indispensable figure in the German cabaret scene.

Yet this path was far from predetermined: Maxi Pongratz is a trained gardener who baked apple strudel at the Hofbräuhaus and prepared the legendary "Kandahar" ski run for the World Cup. Fortunately, he also took his accordion from tavern to tavern, later from stage to stage - and eventually became a musician after all.

With Kofelgschroa, Maxi Pongratz released three albums, all produced by Micha Acher ("The Notwist"). He appeared with his bandmates in the documentary "frei.sein.wollen" (Barbara Weber) and can be heard in Josef Bierbichler's film "Zwei Herren im Anzug". "rum&num" is Maxi Pongratz's fifth solo album.
