Über Grenzen & Hoch.Hinaus · Reading with Margot Flügel-Anhalt
Kulturhaus Freital, Germany
19 €
What if the right moment for the great adventure isn't sometime in the past - but right now?
Margot Flügel-Anhalt proves exactly that: at 64 she gets on a motorcycle for the first time and sets off alone - across Central Asia, along the Pamir Highway, through countries that for most people are just names on a map. The result is her book "Über Grenzen". Six years later, approaching 70, she sets out again: in a brightly spray-painted old Lada, with a bright-red Hilleberg tent and a Therm-a-Rest mat rated for sub-zero temperatures. 22,000 kilometres to the highest mountains in the world, to Nanga Parbat - her second book "Hoch.Hinaus" captures that journey.
This evening Margot Flügel-Anhalt presents both books and talks about her experiences on the road: courage, doubt, dramatic moments, and the joy of simply leaving.
A book-signing session follows the reading.
