Hagen Rether - Liebe

"We can't save the world? Well, who else would?" Hagen Rether doesn't serve his audience classical cabaret, but rather an associative game, an invitation to think together. The cabaret artist refuses to reduce complex relationships and social or political absurdities to mere punchlines. Blaming scapegoats isn't his style either, because responsibility doesn't rest solely with "those at the top".

Rether connects the current with the forgotten, the near with the distant, questions, denies, doubts. He thoroughly shakes the foundations of belief, dismissing so-called objective constraints as collective fictions worthy of laughter. With surprising comparisons, he seduces the audience into a change of perspective - a different view of the world, the future, the mirror, and also into the eyes of uncomfortable truths. And he calls on us to free ourselves from our repeatedly instrumentalized fear and anger.

Rether's Liebe is tragic, comic, painful, contagious: the constantly mutating programme with the same title causes lasting dissatisfaction with simple explanations and inspires independent thinking and action. For up to three and a half hours, the cabaret artist passionately advocates for enlightenment and compassion, against hypocrisy and consumer apathy: change is possible - if we want it.
