MUSICAL CABARET
In a complicated world where the universe above and below us no longer plays by the rules, musical comedian Willy Astor arrives with fresh ideas from his realm of invention. As Wolfgang Amadeus Notarzt, he rescues more than a few evenings and, at best, makes you forget the everyday grind.
So why carry a grudge under your turtleneck!?
Astor - songwriter and wordsmith - conjures a new spirit of cheerfulness. A future-proof relic, on stage for nearly four decades, he is a classic you simply have to see and hear again and again.
This all-round talent twists the meaning and sound of words like no one else, producing something entirely new and utterly comic.
And the audience gets their humour straight from the source.
BIOGRAPHY
Willy Astor was already the class entertainer at school - cracking jokes without a care for consequences or reputation. He felt young and didn't need money. Money, he says, is the worst possible motivation for anything artistic. That he ended up on stage was a mix of luck and the awareness that this chance would come only once, so he had to grab it. He knew even then that making a living from art might be tough - his family had no so-called "stage professionals", only the involuntary kind.
On his early days he writes: "After leaving the army I threw myself into guitar practice and songwriting, went to countless concerts and soaked up everything that had a sound. Literature helped me a great deal, and even more so the people who made me curious." Entertainment was always his priority - the kind that stays above the belt and doesn't really hurt anyone. What matters most to Astor is meeting people where their worries are.
