Anniversary Theatre "Die Quellen von Bad Mergentheim" - 3rd Performance

200 years of springs. 100 years of the "Bad" title. An anniversary year for Bad Mergentheim.

In 1826, shepherd Franz Gehrig discovered the Wilhelmsquelle - the beginning of a development that turned Bad Mergentheim into a health resort of regional and national importance. In 2026, the town marks two milestones at once: 200 years since the discovery of the healing springs, and 100 years since the award of the "Bad" designation.

The town and the spa administration are jointly shaping an anniversary year full of events, cultural highlights and special productions. At the heart of the spa administration's programme is the Kurpark, serving as a living stage for history, health and the future.

A centrepiece of the anniversary year is a theatre piece created especially for the occasion, brought to the stage by the spa administration together with the StudioBÜHNE of the Kulturverein Bad Mergentheim.

"Die Quellen von Bad Mergentheim - Eine Reise durch Zeit und Heilkunst" brims with stories: from the curious discovery by a shepherd, through heated debates in the town hall, to glamorous spa society gatherings and visions of the future. Humour, music and surprising scenes bring 200 years of spring history to life - sometimes solemn, sometimes comic, always engaging. A play that shows how a small trickle grew into a full spa town - and why Bad Mergentheim still captivates with its springs today.
