Hitch & Ich - Jens Wawrczeck reads Spellbound — KASCH, Achim

Filmed by Alfred Hitchcock!
Read by Jens Wawrczeck!

Jens Wawrczeck - the man who knew too much. At least about Alfred Hitchcock and his films, so much so that he can no longer keep it to himself!

Actor, singer and voice artist Jens Wawrczeck achieved cult status through his role as detective Peter Shaw in the audio drama series Die drei ??? - a status that endures to this day. With the reading series HITCH UND ICH, he is now living out a long-held dream. His great passion is Alfred Hitchcock and the literature "behind the film" - the invisible originals he wants to drag into the light: the novels and stories behind Hitchcock's cinematic successes. Thrilling, musical, multimedia. The programme is accompanied by live music, with different guest artists each time.

Francis Beeding's novel, which Hitchcock later adapted into the film Spellbound, was originally published under the title "Das Haus von Dr. Edwardes". Though "house" is something of an understatement - Château Landry is a medieval castle. Here, Dr. Edwardes runs a renowned psychiatric clinic. Two new doctors are expected: Dr. Murchison, a psychiatrist, and the newly qualified Dr. Constance Sedgwick, who arrives to find that Dr. Edwardes has left - he himself has suffered a nervous breakdown. On top of that, a new patient plagued by obsessions, personally admitted by Dr. Murchison, has killed a guard. The other patients seem to flourish under the methods of the brilliant young doctor - until the deranged killer suddenly claims to be Murchison himself. Will Constance see through the sinister danger lurking in the castle?
