Few composers shaped the early clarinet repertoire as lastingly as Carl Maria von Weber - with the possible exception of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was married to Constanze, Weber's cousin. Both of these related giants of music history were inspired to write their quintets for clarinet and string quartet by the outstanding virtuosos of their respective eras: Mozart by his friend Anton Stadler, Weber by his friend Heinrich Baermann.

As principal clarinettist of the hr-Sinfonieorchester, Tomaž Močilnik is the natural interpreter of these chamber gems. Together with the Hába Quartett - who contribute a late string quartet by Joseph Haydn - he opens the chamber concert series at the hr-Sendesaal in Frankfurt.
