Brilliant technique with depth. Many careers begin with major competition successes - including that of Krystian Zimerman, who shortly after winning the Chopin Competition in 1975 became a preferred pianist of such giants as Leonard Bernstein and Herbert von Karajan. Celebrated to this day as one of the greatest pianists of his generation, Zimerman has long since traded the virtuoso circuit for just a few carefully prepared performances. Though the details of his precisely curated programmes are finalized only late in the process, you always experience the fantastic range of Zimerman's technical excellence in the service of intense creative engagement with the works.

One can therefore feel fortunate that Nuremberg's Meistersingerhalle is among those venues whose characteristics Krystian Zimerman has carefully studied - and which he honours in 2026 with one of his rare concerts. Already in 2023 he opened the Hörtnagel Meisterkonzerte here with a recital that left the audience in awe, as the Nuremberg News wrote: "What Krystian Zimerman achieves here through touch and pedal technique alone is breathtaking."
