FAUST'n'Roll - Rock Theatre after Goethe - Tour 2026

The Faust story is centuries old. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's "Faust" is a universe of German poetic art, leaving ample room for modernity.

Our children, our friends, even our adversaries need "Faust" for reflection, for understanding the present - daily, like air to breathe, like our daily meals! That is why a new interpretation such as "FAUST 'n' Roll" represents another milestone in engaging with Goethe's magnificent classic.

"FAUST 'n' Roll" was created based on an idea by Michael Manthey, managing director of the renowned Manthey Event GmbH and - of course - using the texts of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. "FAUST 'n' Roll - Rock Theatre after Goethe" is a touring theatre and is also regularly performed on the Brocken as "FAUST on the Brocken - Rock Theatre after Goethe".

The subject of "FAUST 'n' Roll" draws strong inspiration from the fantasy world of "Steampunk", which has been skillfully woven into the story and the manner of the characters. "Steampunk" is a role-playing game genre in which an alternative reality exists to our world of combustion engines and electrical engineering. It is set in the late 19th and early 20th century and has essentially frozen in the age of steam engines: everything functions on steam, with crude mechanics, reflected in the recurring motif of gears. People wear technically modified fashion of the Victorian era - top hats, corsets and frock coats are defining. The protagonists of "FAUST 'n' Roll" feel right at home in these wonderful costumes. Just as the play with time levels creates wonderful jumps through Goethe's world of characters, so do the costumes.

The digital stage design amplifies the effect of what is presented, helps eliminate the need for pyrotechnics and skillfully blends multimedia.
