Kino "ver'tanzt" - When Film Comes Alive

Participating groups: Showtanzgruppe "Elementrix" from Broadway Dance School Öhringen, Ballettschule Evi Ritter Leonberg, Tanzstudio Renningen, Tanzschule Weil der Stadt, Ballettschule Tabea Herrenberg, Tanzbühne Dancestage in Asperg

What began in summer 2021 as a spontaneous idea from two young dancers in Öhringen has evolved into a unique event format. While watching "The Greatest Showman" together, they wondered why films are accompanied by live orchestras but have never been danced live. The answer came in 2023: "Kino 'ver'tanzt" premiered at Kultura Öhringen before over 1,000 spectators. The film played in full length on a large screen while multiple dance groups simultaneously performed each dance scene live in front of it.

In 2026, the format returns - this time at Stadthalle Leonberg. Under the artistic direction of Franziska Hader, who led the creative vision in 2023, six dance schools from the region between Leonberg and Hohenlohe bring "The Greatest Showman" to life on stage.

About the film: "The Greatest Showman" is based on the life story of P. T. Barnum, a circus pioneer from humble beginnings who builds an entertainment enterprise with grand vision. He gathers people with extraordinary talents around him and makes them celebrated stars - but ambition and personal doubts plunge him into a crisis that threatens to tear apart his family and artistic community.
