Stefan "Das Eich" Eichner plays Reinhard Mey 1.0

"You listen to a lot of Reinhard Mey, don't you? The guitar style and the way you write your lyrics remind me so much of him - wonderful!". Stefan Eichner - better known as "Das Eich" - hears comments like this time and again after his shows. And it's no coincidence: this "Relaxed Franconian" is a devoted fan of the chansons of Germany's most celebrated Liedermacher, and it was largely through Reinhard Mey's songs that he learned and refined his guitar playing.

Now Stefan Eichner has made a long-held wish come true: he has put together a full-length stage programme dedicated to Reinhard Mey's chansons, which he will perform live alongside his own music-cabaret shows. And just like Reinhard Mey himself - no band. Just a guitar.

The artist describes the evening in his own words: "These songs have been with me for more than half my life - at home, on tour, basically all the time. Reinhard is one of a kind, impossible to imitate, and that's not what this programme is about either. Nor is it a 'Best of'. Reinhard Mey has written over 500 songs in his career - a remarkable body of work. A selection of the 20 biggest hits wouldn't do that justice, in my view. That's why, alongside classics like 'Über den Wolken' and 'Gute Nacht, Freunde', you'll also find songs from the 'second and third tier' that - I feel - deserve to be heard too. After concerts, audience members tell me that's exactly what they appreciate most. That kind of response means a great deal to me and keeps me looking forward to every next show!"
