Bodo Wartke - Wunderpunkt

Word acrobat and pianist, actor and comedian: Bodo Wartke is a versatile artist who combines brilliant wordplay with musical freedom. His repertoire is rich and varied - from playful rhyming etudes to politically and socially critical chansons.

A hallmark of his work is the unusual yet highly musical rhyme combined with engaging and refined music. For Bodo Wartke, language is always music, and music gives structure to words. He applies his skills to a broad range of themes - from wordplay to complex love songs and socially critical chansons.

Composing and writing his own lyrics, he has created six cabaret piano programmes as a solo artist, plus two best-of programmes with orchestras and one with his band. He has also produced two modern adaptations of Sophocles' ancient dramas, in which he performs as an actor: King Oedipus and Antigone.

Wartke's musical repertoire knows no bounds - from tap-dance numbers to poetry, from pop songs to freshly interpreted Mozart sonatas. The artist draws inspiration from many spheres of life, both social and personal. His songs such as "Liebeslied", which he has composed in 88 different languages, or socially critical "Monica" and politically engaged "Hambacher Wald" showcase the depth of his creativity.
