LACHEN & LAUSCHEN - Denis Fischer: Fischer Sings Cohen

Leonard Cohen's songs speak of love, hate, longing, fulfillment, a punishing God, a loving woman - and vice versa. In Denis Fischer's interpretation, they strike straight to the heart and plunge the audience into euphoric rapture between goosebumps and emotion.

Subtle arrangements and Carsten Sauer's powerful, precise piano accompaniment give Fischer's voice and the poetic language of the texts ample space. Fischer creates - complemented by a handful of his own songs inspired by Cohen - a deeply emotional and finely balanced show that boldly stakes everything on the magic of small gestures. He celebrates "Hallelujah" as a tenderly broken hymn or "I'm your man" as a magnificently charming flirtation with the audience.

Denis Fischer celebrates melancholy as the elixir of life and does so with casual elegance and breathtaking confidence, bowing deeply to the great Cohen. With a keen sense of theatricality and interpretation, he breathes thrilling new life into the legendary songs and shows us a portrait of the artist as a young man - bitter, sarcastic, yet also sexy, blessed with a "golden voice" and the sweet humor of cheerful despair.

He is cool and fragile, wild and elegant, pop and chanson with the ideal blend of drama and a wink. Take this waltz...!
