The Great Gatsby - Musical

The 2026/2027 theatre season at Metropol Theater in Vechta opens with the musical "The Great Gatsby".

New York, early 1920s: young stockbroker Nick Carraway moves into a small house on Long Island - right next door to the mysterious Jay Gatsby, famous for throwing the most legendary parties in town. Nick is asked to help Gatsby reconnect with Daisy - his great love from years past and Nick's own cousin. But Daisy is now married to the wealthy Tom Buchanan, who is determined to keep her away from Gatsby. A heated confrontation leads to a fateful accident that reshuffles everything.

F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel (1896-1940) is regarded as a masterpiece of modern literature - glitz and glamour, economic turmoil and social scheming. Claus Martin has adapted the story as a musical: his lively songs move between ragtime, swing and Charleston, performed by a live band and paired with rousing choreography.
