Arktos, a terrible snowman, seeks to cover the world in ice. The old dragon Tyrion wants to prepare his small son Tabaluga for his destined task - protecting the world. To do this, Tabaluga must find the True Fire, only then can he stop Arktos.

Tabaluga receives the support of a magician and sets out to find the fire. He faces many dangers, such as the spider woman Tarantula, but also discovers beautiful things. He learns that the world, with all its good and evil, is worth saving. However, Arktos does not want Tabaluga to fulfill his destiny. From pure ice, he creates a beautiful being - the girl Lilli, whose only task is to distract Tabaluga from his search for the True Fire.

Tabaluga falls in love with Lilli, as Arktos planned, but through this he discovers a great and beautiful power: Love.
