The four dances from the ballet "Estancia" are the most frequently performed work by Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera. The action takes place on a cattle ranch in the Pampas - gripping rhythms meet images of vast landscapes.

Xavier Montsalvatge, the Catalan composer, wrote the "Sinfonietta-concerto" for flute and string orchestra expanded with piccolo, harp, and percussion in 2001, shortly before his death. The solo instrument shines virtuosically amid Mediterranean warm timbres, seasoned with a hint of neoclassical dissonance.

From Barcelona, the journey continues to Andalusia: there unfolds "El amor brujo", the "love spell". As in "Estancia", a love story stands at the center here too - complete with ghosts. Manuel de Falla's score is full of references to Andalusian folk music and encompasses both tender and eerie tones.
