Boys' Choir Meeting - Germany-Finland

Before the Windsbacher Knabenchor and their Finnish friends from Cantores Minores of Helsinki perform Johannes Brahms' "German Requiem" together, both ensembles will give a joint concert at St. Sebald's Church in Nürnberg.

The Windsbacher choir can look back on 80 years of history, while the Helsinki Cathedral Boys' Choir, founded in 1952, is only slightly younger. Cantores Minores - where boys between the ages of three and 25 sing and learn - has around 400 members, making it not only the largest but also the finest boys' choir in Finland. It also shares the Central German boys' choir tradition with Windsbach.

The choir, which has won numerous awards and has been directed by Hannu Norjanen since 2005, performs at least two major works by Johann Sebastian Bach each year and maintains an extensive repertoire of Finnish and international choral music - both of which will shape the programme of the Nürnberg concert. The concert takes place in cooperation with the Evangelical-Lutheran Parish of Nürnberg St. Sebald.
