International exceptional artists perform for peace

At the peace concert "Give Peace a Chance", which is also the closing concert of the anniversary year "180 Years King of Violin" - 180 years of the King of Violin August Wilhelmj - under the patronage of Wiesbaden's mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, internationally renowned artists take the stage: the celebrated Dutch violinist Yvonne Smeulers (www.yvonnesmeulers.com) and the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (www.kyivsymphony.com) under the direction of young Ukrainian conductor Yuliia Harbovska.

Because of the war in Ukraine, the world-class Ukrainian orchestra must live in exile, positioning itself as an international ambassador for its country and seeking supporters for its homeland, which has been at war for over 4 years.

The moving power of music is meant to inspire people to advocate for peace and strive for peace both within and without.

The captivating musical programme of the peace concert features Maksym Berezovsky's (Ukraine) Symphony No. 1 in C major, Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto op. 47 in D minor, and Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World").
