Liederabend Roman Trekel - Moods: From Romantic to Ironic - EW Passau
Kloster Fürstenzell, Germany
35 €
Roman Trekel | baritone
Oliver Pohl | piano
Works by Franz Schubert, Carl Loewe, Wilhelm Weismann and Ralf Albert Franz
The art of the Lied in its full range: Schubert and Loewe bring masterworks of Romanticism - music of poetic depth and narrative power. This is the Kunstlied at its core: poetry turned into sound, dramatic intensity, and an intimate conversation between voice and piano.
But the Lied can take a different turn: witty, ironic, unexpected. Christian Morgenstern's "Galgenlieder", set to music by Ralf Albert Franz, use sharp humour and hidden layers to open up a strange world somewhere between nonsense and profundity.
Roman Trekel, Berlin Kammersänger at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and one of Germany's most distinguished Lied interpreters, joins his long-standing piano partner Oliver Pohl for an evening that spans from Romantic grandeur to refined irony.
