What happens when the grandson of a musical legend realises that the musician's gene and the Oberkrainer gene have merged in his DNA? Saso Avsenik is the grandson of the great Slavko Avsenik, the founding father of Oberkrainer music. In 2009, under his leadership, seven young musicians set out from Begunje in Slovenia - the "cradle of Oberkrainer music" - to pursue their shared passion and carry this tradition forward.

The fact that grandson Saso chose to take up the musical legacy made Slavko's (* 26.11.29 † 02.07.15) eyes light up: "There is no finer gift than seeing the joy and dedication with which these young musicians have gathered around my firstborn grandson to bring our family's music to the world.
