KARA ORMAN • Sayko Session Open Air
Kulturhaus Schwanen, Waiblingen, Germany
10 €
On Friday, 24 July 2026, KARA ORMAN plays with Sayko Session Open Air as part of the Schwaneninsel Sommer Open Airs series at Kulturhaus Schwanen in Waiblingen. Doors open at 19:00, show starts at 20:00. The trio led by Nazim Sabuncu blends Anatolian folk with psychedelia, funk, rock and electronic textures. The evening is co-presented by Sayko Sessions Stuttgart. In the event of a thunderstorm or heavy rain, the concert moves indoors to the Schwanensaal.
KARA ORMAN sounds like tradition in motion - not polished, but rooted in the moment - somewhere between Anatolian folk, psychedelia and danceable grooves. At the centre is Nazim Sabuncu on saz, guitar, vocals and loops. Jörg Bielfeldt on drums and Mert Eylem on darbuka build a sound that brings Anatolian folk traditions together with psychedelic breadth and a band energy that gets people moving. What started in 2020 as a casual pandemic jam session has long since grown into a fully-fledged live project.
The music carries traces of Turkish pop and folk history from the 1970s - artists like Barış Manço and Neşe Karaböcek - while opening toward the present in a way that also speaks to fans of global psychedelic acts and club-adjacent sounds. KARA ORMAN don't play a museum retrospective; they play living, open music that puts tradition into circulation rather than preserving it under glass.
For the Schwaneninsel Sommer Open Airs, this is a natural fit: outdoors, with room for curiosity, rhythm and shared listening. The open air is freely accessible with no entry check. Tickets on a solidarity-price model - 10 / 15 / 20 euros - are available in advance and at the door.
