The Irish Folk Festival celebrates its 53rd year on tour under the motto "Gold dust in your pocket" - an image of what Irish tradition holds: something we discover anew each time we open ourselves to it.

BRIAN LEACH • Master of the hammered dulcimer
Brian Leach plays the hammered dulcimer - an instrument rare in Irish tradition, yet one that unites melody and accompaniment in a single voice. He blends traditional melodies with freely improvised sound arcs, drawing techniques from the Balkans to India. His dulcimer is a custom-built instrument with a distinctive tone. His compositions have been performed at the National Concert Hall Dublin, among other venues; he regularly appears on BBC Radio and RTÉ television.

BRIAN HAITZ & BRENDAN MULHOLLAND • A duo of many sounds
Brendan Mulholland hails from County Antrim in Northern Ireland and is internationally recognised as one of the leading flute players of his generation. Brian Haitz, a multi-instrumentalist and singer, was named Young Musician of the Year at the Sidmouth Folk Festival and has collaborated with musicians including Paddy Keenan, Alan Doherty, and Rüdiger Oppermann. Together they unite wooden flute and guitar in virtuosic instrumental pieces, complemented by carefully chosen songs.
