Matthias Eisenberg, long celebrated as the "Master of Fugues", gives an organ recital at the Annenkirche in Dresden. The programme features virtuoso works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Johann Ludwig Krebs, alongside improvisations on well-known spring melodies and songs.

Eisenberg's career began early: at nine he was already standing in for the cantor in his home town, and at twenty-four he was appointed principal organist of the Gewandhaus - close to the places where Bach worked, whose output remains the cornerstone of Eisenberg's musical life. Since then he has produced numerous recordings that have earned him international acclaim.

The programme reflects the hallmarks of his sixty-year stage presence: virtuoso preludes and fugues, and free improvisations in which Eisenberg unfolds familiar melodies at the organ.
