Simplicissimus - Open Air

Open-air event
Germany's first great adventure novel, performed in the outdoor grounds of the Mottenkäfig - more vivid and entertaining than ever!
We take you back to the 17th century. This evening will be gripping, wildly funny, and merciless. Expect a mix of drama, puppetry in many different forms, live reading, radio-play elements, bagpipes, violin, flute, and a choir! Together with the "Cantores Badensis", the Fiesemadände theatre brings Hans Jakob Grimmelshausen's great German adventure novel to the stage. Almost everyone has heard of "The Adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch". Almost no one has actually read it. Carsten Dittrich and Friedemann A. Nawroth want to change that - and the good news is: you don't have to read it yourself. The two actors will do it for you. Just as colourful, wild, raw, ragged, and full of trickery as the novel itself. They are joined by the Musici der Freien Ritterschaft Baden e.V.
"The Thirty Years' War lasted thirty years. Then it stopped. But in the meantime I lost my parents, learned to read and write anyway, became a court jester, a soldier, a ladies' man with amorous adventures, and a treasure hunter in this topsy-turvy world where everything is upside down. Alas, and alas again, for all eternity. But... it was fun all the same! And that's why I want to tell you about my turbulent life."
The performance takes place on the idyllic open-air stage in the Stadtmuseum grounds. In case of bad weather, it moves indoors to the Figurentheater Mottenkäfig. The bar opens at 19:00.
