Zonta Club Dortmund Charity Evening: Dr. Soul & Marilyn Boadu Band - The Spirit of Black Music
33 €
Black music is more than a sound - it is a story of resistance, longing, and self-assertion. Born from the songs of African Americans during slavery in the USA, it forged a musical language that sought freedom where freedom was forbidden. Inspired by soul, groove, and rhythm and blues, the outstanding Marilyn Boadu returns to the stage with her band, ready to get the audience on their feet with songs by Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Sade, and Beyoncé. Joining her is Dr. Soul, the alter ego of Ingo Grabowsky, also known as Dr. Schlager, who brings the story of black music and its key figures to life in an entertaining way - "What you want, baby, I got it"!
Zonta volunteers for women and girls in Dortmund and works against violence towards women worldwide. This event raises public awareness for that cause. Proceeds go to the Dortmund women's overnight shelter run by Diakonie and to a Zonta International project, including efforts to end child marriage.
